'Bachelor in Paradise' Finale: Actually the most dramatic season ever

This was, in fact, "the most dramatic season of 'Bachelor in Paradise' ever," but not for the reasons you may think.

It was a Bachelor Franchise first — I left this season feeling more remorse for the men than I did for the women. Rodney, Tyler, Johnny, Logan? My heart broke for them.

Season eight of "Bachelor in Paradise" concluded Tuesday night, and the drama was not lacking. Five couples came out of this season:

  • Serene and Brandon, engaged
  • Danielle and Michael, dating
  • Kira and Romeo, dating
  • Jill and Jacob, dating
  • Victoria and Greg, dating (if you can even consider them a couple from this season)

I'm just gonna come out and say it, I am Team Johnny on this one. I really hope Victoria and Greg live happily ever after, truly. Some couples just don't work out, and that's ok, but there is no way that timeline matches up with her and Johnny leaving the beach engaged, taking a break/breaking up and her rekindling with Greg. I felt like she was trying to make it seem like it fit, but it clearly doesn't. You don't go to Europe and get matching tattoos with someone on your "first date." Spare me.

I felt so, so bad for Johnny at that moment. You can just tell he did not want to be there and it broke my heart. Big kudos to Tyler, as well; him going outside to console Johnny after he left the stage made me happy. And the utter disgust on his face when Tyler walked back in and saw Victoria and Greg showing their matching tattoos was top-tier petty.

Can we also just acknowledge the perfect meme reactions from the rest of the cast when they revealed their "ciao" tattoos? It was hands down my favorite part of the finale.

Now that we have that out of the way, instead of our normal recap format, we wanted to play off this season's Sadie Hawkins dance and do a little "Most Likely To" style recap of the season:

Biggest surprise: Rooting for Logan

I was a certified Logan hater when this season premiered. But watching him get treated the way he did by Kate had me rooting for him by the finale. She said some pretty awful things about him behind his back without saying any of her concerns to his face, and her only excuse was she didn't think he would hear it. That has got to be one of the worst "apologies" I have ever heard.

I really think Logan handled himself well at the reunion, and by the looks of it, most of Bachelor Nation is rooting for him.

Worst arc: Kate

A perfect segway. Who did I anticipate hating this season? Shanae. Who did I end up hating? Kate. She came off as so materialistic and just plain mean. I really couldn't believe it. She was so judgmental about Logan with no real basis or evidence to back up her claim. She really does deserve somebody like Hayden. Maybe she should give him a call?

Best arc: Brandon

Is he a little cringy sometimes? Yes. But this man just loves with all his heart, whether it is his friends or Serene. I think he was a voice of reason this season, loyal to his girl and gave some of the best pep talks on the beach. Every episode, my love for him grew and grew. The MVP of season eight, if I say so.

Most toxic couple: Aaron and Genevive

Do I think they were the most toxic couple on the beach? Yes. Would this season have been dull and boring without them? Yes. I thank them for their service.

Favorite couple: Danielle and Michael

I mean, do I need to explain? They are perfect for each other. Him saying I love you back to her at the reunion (the only other person than his late wife), them announcing she is moving to his town, him talking about how much his son loves her — be still my freakin' heart.

When it all comes down to it, I think this might be one of the best seasons of "Bachelor in Paradise" to date, and I couldn't think of a worse way to follow up the drama/romance rollercoaster we just went on than with the least interesting man to appear on this franchise being the next Bachelor. Justice for Rodney!

Cheers, and see you next summer, Baches!
